Why Give?
Giving is more than a responsibility—it’s a privilege that brings joy.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” —2 Corinthians 9:7
When we give our time, skills, and resources, it’s not out of pressure or duty. We give because we’re thankful, because we trust God, and because we want to be part of the work He is doing through the church and around the world.
Why do we feel the need to give?
LOVE.
Giving is an act of worship. It’s our way of responding to God’s love and advancing His kingdom. We give not because He requires it, but because our love for Him compels us.
“We love because he first loved us.” —1 John 4:19
RESPECT.
Generosity is a sign of reverence and gratitude toward God. By giving, we acknowledge that He—not money—is our source of security. When we release what we have, He promises to provide for us abundantly.
“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” —Malachi 3:10–11
WISDOM.
Giving allows us to invest in what lasts forever. Earthly things fade, but generosity builds treasures in heaven that can never be taken away.
“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” —Matthew 6:20
There is no greater investment—more lasting, more beautiful, or more meaningful—than the mission of Jesus.
